Total Square Footage: 1,000 square feet
Contractor: Remaley Builders

Special Design and Construction:
  • Low Maintenance
  • Salvaged Heart Pine Columns
Bedo Addition and RenovationSummary: Located in Raleigh, NC, this 1000 square foot addition helps define the main entry while providing a large area for social gatherings. To help integrate the house within its surroundings, natural building materials were incorporated in both the existing house and the addition. Salvaged 8 x 8 heart pine columns serve as both a structural element and a design feature in the main entry area. The columns support a tongue-and-groove cathedral ceiling. Adjacent to the cathedral ceiling is a wall constructed from the same native stone used at the exterior base of the addition. Low-maintenance materials were used in the construction.
